Growing up in the mid 1990’s and early 2000’s a numerous amount of kids watched "Goosebumps"
created by R.L. Stine. Goosebumps TV show was super bizarre. It was kid - friendly. Now in 2015, R.L. Stine finally made it into a movie.
Disappointed about leaving the big city to live in a small town, teenager Zach ( Dylan Minnette ) moves with his widowed mom from New York to the suburban Madison, Delaware. Hoping for a fresh start with his father’s death, Zach seems to come across the girl next door, Hannah (Odeya Rush), whose overprotective father (Jack Black ) warns Zach to stay away from his house and
daughter.
Staying away was hard to do when Zach looked through his window and saw Hannah in trouble. It was revealed that Hannah’s father was actually the author, R.L. Stine. He lives in isolation to protect his original “Goosebumps” manuscripts.
Zach and his nerdy friend, Champ (Ryan Lee), decided to snoop around Mr.Stine’s house. Champ accidentally unlocked the book with the “Abominable Snowman of Pasadena“. During the chaos, another creature comes to life: maniacal ventriloquist’s dummy Slappy. Slappy continued to spread Stine’s manuscripts all over
town. The whole town was in danger. There were so many different creatures like : a vampire poodle, a wolfman, graveyard ghouls, lawn gnomes, and a giant praying mantis.
It is suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong . They captured the monsters based on the television and book series.
Carl Johnson, a Middle College junior says, “ When I was in elementary I loved reading the books and watching the TV show. I love action movies. Goosebumps has to be one of my favorite action movies this year .”
Joshua Buckley, a Whitehaven High football player says,“ I rarely go to the movies , but since Goosebumps was one of my favorite shows as a kid I had to go see it ! I enjoyed the movie. My favorite part of the movie was when the monsters got loose. “
